Big compound exercises that stimulate you neurologically to grow muscle, strength, power and speed are the exercises that are beneficial to all that want to improve performance. Abs curls and chest presses are not going to make you a better competitor; they are isolation exercises which means you are building strength in isolation alone and they won't get you improvements in performance.
